IQNA – A Syrian political activist said Iran’s missile and drone attack against Israel earlier this month was a historic turning point.

Jafar Khazour wrote in an article that the Iranian operation had multiple aspects and dimensions, one of which was Iran’s moving from the stage of strategic patience to strategic deterrence.

He said the operation thwarted a decade of Israeli regime’s efforts to prevent the development of the capabilities of the regional resistance.

From the operational point of view, the Iranian attack showed the great technological advances that Iran has achieved, he stated.

Khazour added that from the strategic point of view, it opened a new chapter for the collapse of the Zionist regime.

The operation carried out by Iran was the country’s legitimate right and an appropriate response to the Israeli regime’s terrorist attack on the Iranian diplomatic mission in Syria, the analyst underscored.

It was also a humane response as the Iranian missiles did not target any civilian centers or infrastructure, according to Khazour.

He also noted that prior to the attack on Israel, Iran made international efforts to secure the UN Security Council’s condemnation of the Tel Aviv regime for the Damascus attack but the UNSC failed to adopt the right stance.

He went on to say that the Iranian operation was a confirmation of the active role that the Islamic Republic plays in supporting the region’s resistance movements.

On April 1, the Israeli regime committed a terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.

Retaliating against the attack, the IRGC targeted the occupied territories late on April 13 with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, has inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories.

Following the reprisal, Iran both relayed the message that it viewed the matter as “concluded,” and also warned of a “bigger” response in case the regime or its allies target Iran.
